You may have already noticed those two small, symmetrical dimples just above the buttocks, either on yourself or someone else. Discreet yet intriguing, they catch the eye, spark curiosity… and have an almost mythical name: Venus dimples. But what do they really reveal? Are they linked to health, genetics, or simply good physical condition? Spoiler alert: the answer might surprise you…
Venus’s dimples: a small detail… sculpted by nature

You might think that these little hunger pangs are the result of hours spent doing sports, but think again: their secret is much deeper (and more natural) than it seems.

Venus dimples form due to a specific attachment between the skin and the pelvic bone, more precisely at an anatomical point called the posterior superior iliac spine (yes, that’s right). In short, genetics determines whether you’ll have them or not. If one of your parents has them, you have a good chance of having them too.
They are more noticeable in people with a slim or toned physique, because the skin is less “hidden” by fat. But let’s be clear: you can’t “create” these dimples if they aren’t already there, no matter how many squats or plank exercises you do.
