Making your own freezer fries is easier

Making your own freezer fries is easier than you think and tastes so much better than anything from the grocery store! They’re golden, crispy on the outside, and fluffy inside. Perfect for quick weeknight meals or homemade burgers.

Ingredients:

  • Fresh potatoes (russet or Yukon Gold recommended)
  • Oil spray (avocado oil is great)
  • Salt and your favorite seasonings (garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and cut potatoes into French fry shapes (about ¼–½ inch thick).
  2. Place the cut fries in an ice bath for 10 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the fries and blanch for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Immediately transfer to another ice bath for 10 minutes.
  5. Drain well and pat completely dry with a towel.
  6. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet and flash freeze for 2 hours.
  7. Transfer to freezer bags, remove as much air as possible, label, and store in the freezer.

To Bake from Frozen:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Spread frozen fries on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  3. Spray generously with oil and season with salt and your favorite spices.
  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

These fries freeze beautifully and cook up perfectly every time. No more mystery ingredients — just real potatoes!
