The Canning Recipes: Sweet Tea Concentrate

This easy canned sweet tea concentrate lets you have fresh iced tea ready in seconds all year long. Just add water and ice!

Ingredients (per quart jar)

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 10–12 black tea bags (Lipton or your favorite)
  • Hot water

Instructions

  1. Add Sugar and Tea Place 2 cups sugar and 10–12 tea bags into each clean quart jar.
  2. Fill with Hot Water Fill the jar with hot water to dissolve the sugar. Stir gently if needed. Cover and let steep for 20 minutes.
  3. Complete the Jar Remove the tea bags. Fill the rest of the jar with hot water, leaving 1-inch headspace.
  4. Process Wipe rims clean and apply lids and bands fingertip tight. Process in a boiling water canner for 10 minutes (adjust for altitude).
  5. Cool and Store Cool jars undisturbed for 12–24 hours. Check seals, label, and store in a cool, dark place.

To Serve:
Pour concentrate into a gallon jug and fill with cold water. Add ice and enjoy!

This concentrate is easily adjustable by changing the amount of sugar or tea bags to suit your taste. A refreshing pantry staple for hot days!
