strange double-stemmed shape

😅 That mushroom definitely has a strange double-stemmed shape!

From the photo, it resembles a Russula-type mushroom, possibly one of the pinkish/red-capped Russula species. The pale cap, white gills, and thick white stem are consistent with that group.

However, I wouldn’t identify the exact species from this photograph alone. Mushrooms can look remarkably similar, and important features such as the cap texture, spore print, stem texture, bruising, smell, habitat, and microscopic characteristics may be needed.

🍄 Why does it look like it has two legs?

The unusual appearance is likely a fasciated or fused growth, where two developing mushroom stems grow together or a single fruiting body develops an unusual shape. That’s what makes this one look almost like a little pair of legs! 😂

⚠️ One important warning

Even if it is a Russula, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s safe to eat. Some Russula species are edible while others can cause gastrointestinal illness, and a photograph isn’t enough for a reliable edibility determination.

My best photo-based guess: Russula genus — exact species uncertain. 🍄

And honestly, the funniest part is that it looks like the mushroom is standing there with its little legs crossed. 😂
