Homemade Pepper Gravy Mix (Pantry Staple)

This simple pepper gravy mix is perfect for quick comfort meals. Just add water or broth and you’ll have rich, peppery gravy ready in minutes — great over biscuits, mashed potatoes, chicken, or steak!

Pepper Gravy Mix (Bulk Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup chicken or beef bouillon powder
  • 3 Tbsp coarse ground black pepper (adjust for heat preference)
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt (optional, if your bouillon is low-sodium)
  • 1 tsp paprika (for color and mild flavor)

Instructions

  1. Make the Mix Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl and whisk thoroughly until evenly blended.
  2. Store Transfer to an airtight container or mason jars. Label and store in a cool, dry pantry for up to 6 months.

To Make 1 Cup of Gravy

  • 1 cup water or broth
  • 2–3 Tbsp pepper gravy mix
    Directions:
  1. In a small saucepan, bring the water or broth to a simmer.
  2. Whisk in 2–3 tablespoons of the gravy mix.
  3. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened to your liking. Add more mix for thicker gravy.
