🍽️ If You Had to Eat the Same Meal Every Day for 7 Days, What Would You Choose?
Imagine you could choose one meal—and only one meal—to eat every day for an entire week.
No switching things up on Tuesday.
No ordering something different on Friday.
No sneaking in your favorite dessert after everyone goes to bed. 😂
You get one meal for seven straight days.
So what are you choosing?
This sounds easy at first, but once you really think about it, the decision gets surprisingly difficult.
🤔 The Ultimate Food Question
We all have meals we could happily eat again and again.
Maybe it’s a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs.
Maybe it’s tacos loaded with cheese and fresh toppings.
Maybe it’s fried chicken with mashed potatoes.
Maybe it’s a juicy steak with a baked potato.
Or perhaps you’re the kind of person who could happily eat a giant bowl of homemade soup every night.
But eating something once and eating it seven days in a row are two very different things.
That favorite meal suddenly has to survive the ultimate test:
Would you still want it on Day 7?
🥩 Option #1: Steak Dinner
A perfectly cooked steak is an obvious contender.
Imagine a juicy steak served with:
- Garlic mashed potatoes
- Roasted asparagus
- Sautéed mushrooms
- Homemade dinner rolls
- Garlic butter
It sounds fantastic.
But by Day 5, you might start wondering if your wallet—and your appetite—are ready for another steak.
🍝 Option #2: Spaghetti & Meatballs
This one has serious seven-day potential.
A big bowl of spaghetti with homemade meatballs, tomato sauce, Parmesan, and garlic bread is classic comfort food.
It’s filling, inexpensive compared with many restaurant meals, and easy to make in a large batch.
You could even change the experience slightly with different toppings or vegetables while keeping the basic meal the same.
🌮 Option #3: Tacos
Tacos might actually be one of the easiest meals to repeat because they’re so customizable.
You could have:
- Seasoned beef
- Chicken
- Beans
- Shredded lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Cheese
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Avocado
- Jalapeños
The basic meal stays the same, but the toppings can change.
One night, make crunchy tacos.
Another night, use soft tortillas.
Another night, turn everything into a taco bowl.
Technically, that’s still tacos, right? 😂
🍗 Option #4: Fried Chicken Dinner
Crispy fried chicken with creamy mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and biscuits is hard to argue with.
Add coleslaw and you’ve got a full comfort-food feast.
The problem?
Eating fried food every day isn’t the kind of routine most people would want nutritionally. For an actual weeklong meal plan, variety and balance matter; USDA’s MyPlate guidance encourages including fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy or fortified alternatives rather than relying on a single repetitive meal. (Mon Assiette)
So this one might be better as a fantasy answer than a real seven-day plan.
🍕 Option #5: Pizza
Let’s be honest.
There are people who would choose pizza without hesitation.
And pizza gives you plenty of possibilities:
🍕 Pepperoni
🍕 Sausage
🍕 Mushrooms
🍕 Peppers and onions
🍕 Margherita
🍕 Chicken
🍕 Extra cheese
But there’s an important question:
Would you choose the exact same pizza every day?
Or would you consider different toppings to be different meals?
That’s where the rules get complicated. 😂
🍲 Option #6: Homemade Soup
A hearty homemade soup could be a surprisingly practical choice.
Think chicken and rice soup, beef vegetable soup, chili, lentil soup, or a thick bean-and-ham soup.
You can pack a lot of different foods into one bowl.
For a real-world meal plan, USDA recommends varying vegetables and protein foods and incorporating a range of food groups throughout your meals. (Mon Assiette)
So if someone insisted on repeating one basic meal, a nutrient-dense soup with vegetables, protein, grains or legumes, and a suitable side could be more versatile than a meal consisting primarily of one food.
🥔 Option #7: Loaded Baked Potato
Here’s an underrated choice.
Start with a big fluffy baked potato and load it up with:
- Butter
- Cheddar cheese
- Sour cream
- Green onions
- Bacon
- Chili
- Broccoli
- Shredded chicken
You could create a different combination every day while still technically eating a loaded baked potato.
And that’s an important consideration when playing this game:
How strict are the rules?
🍳 Option #8: Breakfast for Dinner
Eggs, crispy potatoes, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, and fruit.
Honestly, this might be one of the hardest meals to get tired of.
And breakfast foods don’t care what time it is.
Want pancakes at 7 a.m.?
Great.
Want scrambled eggs and hash browns at 8 p.m.?
Also great.
🍛 Option #9: A Big Rice Bowl
Rice bowls are another strong contender.
You could build one with:
- Rice
- Grilled chicken
- Roasted vegetables
- Black beans
- Avocado
- Corn
- Salsa
- Cheese
The ingredients complement one another, and the meal can be prepared ahead of time.
USDA’s meal-planning guidance also recommends preparing ingredients such as vegetables, grains, and protein foods ahead of time to make meals easier during busy weeks. (Mon Assiette)
🍔 Option #10: The Classic Burger & Fries
A juicy burger with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and crispy fries.
Sounds amazing.
But seven days?
That’s where things get interesting.
By Day 4, are you still excited when you smell the fries?
Or are you secretly dreaming about spaghetti?
😂
🥗 What Would Make a Good Seven-Day Meal?
If this were more than just a fun food question and you actually had to build a repeatable meal for a week, you’d want to think beyond taste.
A balanced meal can include several food groups, such as vegetables, fruit, grains, protein foods, and dairy or fortified alternatives. USDA’s MyPlate guidance emphasizes variety across these groups and recommends choosing foods with fewer added sugars, saturated fats, and excess sodium. (Mon Assiette)
That could mean choosing something like:
Grilled chicken + brown rice + roasted vegetables + beans + fruit + yogurt
instead of relying on a meal that’s mostly one food.
And fortunately, you can make healthy food delicious enough that it doesn’t feel like a punishment.
😂 But This Is Supposed to Be Fun!
Let’s be honest.
This isn’t a nutrition exam.
It’s a food fantasy.
You’re being asked:
If you had to eat the same meal every day for seven days, what meal would you actually look forward to eating?
Maybe your answer is incredibly practical.
Maybe it’s completely indulgent.
Maybe it’s the meal your grandmother used to make.
Maybe it’s something you could eat every day for the rest of your life.
And maybe you already know exactly what you’re choosing.

For an actual weeklong eating plan, repeating one identical meal isn’t ideal because nutritional needs are broader than any single meal. A varied eating pattern is generally recommended, and individual needs can differ. (Mon Assiette)
