Dinner hero unlocked.
Quick Italian Pasta Meal-in-a-Jar
Makes: 1 jar (serves 4)
Ingredients for the Jar
- 2 cups fusilli pasta
- 2/3 cup whole milk powder
- 4 tsp mixed Italian herbs
- 4 tsp corn flour (cornstarch)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 sachet (or 2–3 Tbsp) tomato paste
To Cook the Meal (add fresh when ready to eat)
- 500g minced beef (ground beef)
- 3 cups boiling water
- ½ to 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
Instructions
To Assemble the Jar:
Layer the ingredients in a clean quart-sized jar in this order for best presentation:
Pasta first, then milk powder, corn flour, herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Top with the tomato paste sachet. Seal tightly and store in pantry up to 3 months.
To Cook:
- In a large pan with a lid, brown the 500g minced beef over high heat until well browned and any liquid has evaporated.
- Pour in the entire contents of the jar and stir well to coat the beef.
- Add 3 cups boiling water and stir thoroughly.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12 minutes, stirring every 3 minutes.
- Stir in ½ to 1 cup grated cheese until melted. Remove from heat.
- Let the pasta rest for 5–10 minutes to thicken. Serve hot!
Serves 4 (or stretch with a side salad or garlic bread).
Pro Tips:
- Double the jars while you’re at it — perfect for gifting or emergency meals.
- Swap beef for ground turkey or plant-based mince if preferred.
- Add frozen veggies in the last 5 minutes of cooking for extra nutrition.
Stock your pantry with these jars and never stress about dinner again!
