Ingredients

For the dough:
• 2 cups flour
• ½ cup butter/margarine
• 1 egg
• 2–3 tbsp cold water
• Pinch of salt

For the filling:
• Minced meat
• 1 potato (diced)
• 1 carrot (diced)
• 1 onion (chopped)
• 1 tbsp flour (to thicken)
• Seasoning cubes, salt, curry, thyme
• Little oil

Steps

  1. Make dough
    Mix flour + salt → rub in butter → add egg + water → form dough → chill for 15–20 mins
  2. Prepare filling
    Fry onions in oil → add meat → cook
    Add carrot + potato + seasoning → cook soft
    Add flour + little water → stir till thick
  3. Shape pies
    Roll dough → cut circles → add filling → fold & seal
  4. Bake
    Brush with egg → bake at 180°C for 25–30 mins
