OLD-FASHIONED HAM & BEAN SOUP

OLD-FASHIONED HAM & BEAN SOUP 🥣

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt, to taste

Directions:

  1. Sauté onion, carrots and celery in a little oil until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  2. Add ham, beans, chicken broth and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
  3. Simmer uncovered 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Mash some of the beans against the side of the pot for a thicker, creamier broth. Taste and add salt only if needed.
  5. Serve hot.
