This is such a smart way to preserve your hot pepper harvest! Chop them up, freeze in ice cube trays with a little water, and you have convenient portions ready to toss into chili, taco meat, soups, sauces, and more. No more wasted peppers or bland winter meals!
Ingredients:
- Fresh hot peppers (any variety — jalapeños, cayenne, habaneros, etc.)
Instructions:
- Wash the peppers thoroughly. Remove stems (and seeds if you want less heat).
- Chop the peppers into small pieces.
- Fill ice cube trays with the chopped peppers.
- Add a little water to fill in the cracks between the pieces so they hold together.
- Freeze until solid.
- Pop the pepper cubes out of the trays and transfer to a labeled freezer bag or container.
To Use:
Drop the frozen cubes straight into simmering pots of chili, taco meat, soups, stews, stir-fries, or any dish that needs a kick of heat and fresh pepper flavor. One or two cubes usually do the trick!
This method keeps your peppers tasting garden-fresh for months and makes adding spice to your cooking super easy. A great way to enjoy your harvest all winter long!
