Which Glass Has the Most Orange Juice?

At first glance, this looks like an easy question. Just look at the four glasses and decide which one appears to have the highest level of orange juice.

But there’s a catch: the glasses aren’t all positioned or shaped the same way. 😏

So before you answer, take a second look.

🥤 Glass A

Glass A is standing upright and appears to contain a good amount of juice. The level looks fairly high, but the glass is also relatively wide.

🥤 Glass B

Glass B is taller and narrower, and the orange juice appears to reach quite high inside the glass.

That can make it look like it contains more—but the height of the liquid alone doesn’t tell us the volume. A taller, narrower glass can hold less than a shorter, wider one even when the liquid level looks higher.

🥤 Glass C

This is the tricky one! 👀

Glass C is tilted, which makes judging the amount much more difficult. The liquid surface remains level because of gravity, even though the glass itself is leaning. But there’s an important catch: a photograph alone cannot establish the exact volume unless we know the actual dimensions and capacity of each glass.

The amount of liquid depends on the three-dimensional volume of the juice, not simply how high the juice reaches. 🧠 Don’t Trust Your Eyes Too Quickly!

That’s what makes this such a fun brain teaser.

Our eyes naturally focus on the height of the orange juice, but height isn’t the same thing as volume.

Think about pouring the same amount of juice into two completely different glasses. In a wide glass, the juice may look shallow. In a narrow glass, exactly the same amount could reach much higher.

The amount hasn’t changed—only the shape of the container has.

And Glass C adds another layer of confusion because it’s tilted. 😄
