Dolly Parton’s iconic star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been restored after it was vandalized just days after the country music legend’s death.

The star, located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, was damaged after becoming an unofficial memorial site for fans mourning Parton. Photos shared online showed extensive scratches across the star, including damage to the area bearing her name. Fans had gathered at the location with flowers, candles, photographs and other tributes. EW.com+1

The Hollywood Historic Trust, which is responsible for maintaining the Walk of Fame stars, began restoration work on September 1. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said the star had already been scheduled for repairs because of cracks and normal wear and tear before the vandalism occurred. People.com

A heartbreaking moment for fans

The vandalism was particularly upsetting because Parton’s star had become a gathering place for admirers following her death on August 25, 2026, at age 80. Fans had left flowers and other personal tributes around the star as they paid their respects.

Reports also indicated that some of the memorial items were disturbed or removed during the incident. One fan who visited the location said a woman had kicked over candles and that broken pieces were allegedly used to scratch the star. Authorities have not publicly identified a vandal in connection with the damage. Folha de S.Paulo+1

The damaged star was ultimately replaced rather than simply left in its vandalized condition. Crews completed the work and prepared the new star for public viewing.

Ana Martinez, the Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, celebrated the restoration, saying that Hollywood was happy to see Parton’s star returned to its proper condition. The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also described the replacement as a way of honoring Parton’s enduring legacy. Folha de S.Paulo+1

The restored star is now once again available for fans to visit and pay tribute.
