Nothing is more infuriating at Aldi than when people use those fake quarter cart keys. 😂
And before the fake-quarter people come for me… hear me out.
Aldi’s cart system works because the carts basically rotate through checkout.
You put your quarter in → you get a cart.
You shop → you go through checkout.
The cashier puts your groceries into the cart from the person ahead of you, and your cart becomes the cart for the person behind you.
Here’s where those little 3D-printed quarter keys annoy the shit out of me. 😂
If YOU didn’t put a real quarter into your cart, but the person ahead of you DID, you can walk away from checkout with their cart containing a real quarter.
Meanwhile, your quarterless cart gets passed to the person behind you.
So you put in zero quarters, potentially leave with someone else’s quarter, and somebody farther down the line eventually returns a cart and discovers…
SURPRISE! No quarter. 😂
You didn’t hack the Aldi system.
You just redistributed the Aldi wealth. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚
Is it only 25¢? YES.
Is this an absurdly small amount of money to be annoyed about? ALSO YES.
But I brought my quarter. I WANT MY DAMN QUARTER BACK. 😂
It’s the Aldi social contract.
Okay, fake-quarter-key people… defend yourselves. 😂👇
